I parked at a trail head quite a ways away from the lake itself with the plan being to hike into the woods a ways to escape the sounds of civilization, or at least to reduce it to a low background drone that is easily covered up by the noise of wind blowing through the trees and birds chirping in the air.<\/p>\n<p>Somehow I forgot to bring my Camelback so I grabbed my laptop bag, clipped my hammock on, stuffed some snacks, magazines, Kindle and other goodies in, draped some long pants and a sweatshirt over it, in case I stayed until it cooled down, and headed out. I walked maybe a mile down the trail and then turned into the woods in search of somewhere to spend a few hours. About\u00a0100 yards off the trail\u00a0I found a nice spot next to a small flowing creek and set up my hammock for pretty much the whole the day.<\/p>\n<p>My camera battery was completely dead. Luckily I had my 12,000 mAh NewTrent battery pack which made quick work of bringing the camera back to life. I napped for a couple of hours which my body seemed to relish, followed by a couple of hours of enjoying Adventure Cycling magazines, window shopping in a magazine for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ourbeautifulplanet.org\/best-cycling-shoes\/\">bike shoes<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0reducing my unread stack of rags from 19 to 17. The Kindle was fired up next so I could a nice bit of <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Libra<\/span>\u00a0by Don DeLillo, the most recent book I&#8217;ve been enjoying.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_13\" style=\"width: 540px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"http:\/\/teamhokies.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/creek.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-13\" class=\"wp-image-13 size-large\" src=\"http:\/\/teamhokies.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/creek-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"Creek by the Hammock\" width=\"530\" height=\"298\" srcset=\"http:\/\/teamhokies.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/creek-1024x576.jpg 1024w, http:\/\/teamhokies.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/creek-300x169.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 530px) 100vw, 530px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-13\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This small creek provided some light running water sound.
